Adventures in Lifelong Learning: Our Amazing Brains

Presenter: Suzanne Choma

In today’s world, most people are constantly trying to keep up with the dizzying array of changes coming at them.  Continuous learning is the key to surviving and thriving in an era of accelerating changes in technology, the economy, and mother nature. Every time a person learns something new, their brain changes – new neural pathways are forged and synapses created. It’s an amazing lifelong journey of neural growth and adventure. In this session, we’ll explore some of the key neurological processes involved in learning and strategies we can personally apply to learn better and stay mentally agile throughout our lives.

Three key learnings the audience will take away from this program:

  1. Every time we learn something new, our brain changes  by forming new connections.
  2. Mental agility is enhanced through physical and psychological fitness.
  3. There are many strategies that can be used by people of all ages to stay mentally agile.
